Courageous and Engaging

After the concert at the 44th Split Summer Festival 19.07.1998 "Slobodna Dalmacija" 
This concert can be counted as one of the most important contributions to the 44th Split Summer Festival. 

The over-filled Monastery of St. Franciscus was treated to a warm and joyeus evening of music. The appearance of Wladimir Kossjanenko was further marked by his performance on a viola made by Pietro Giovanni Mantegazza in 1775 in Milan. 
In the well-known Chaconne from the 2nd Partita for solo violin, Wladimir Kossjanenko showed that he is a mature, reliable and impressive musician. He presented the variations with character and courage, and endowed them with a discrete Slavic charm. His subtle musicality was especially obvious in Schumann's "Märchenbilder" op. 113, where he was accompanied by the exceptional pianist Vesna Podrug. 
In the four picturesque movements by Schumann, she was able to brilliantly bring out the concept and sensitiviy of the composer, especially in the wonderful pianistic nuances of the last movement. An impressive performance of the magnificent Hindemith sonata op. 11 was the high point of the evening…
